2019 EAST PRESTON FESTIVAL SCHOOL AMBASSADORS
The 2019 Festival Ambassadors are William Algar and Asli Candan and their deputies are Bradley Bullimore and Madeleine Weston-Smith. The announcement was made at East Preston Junior School on Thursday amid much excitement and cheers from the other pupils.
They are all from year 6 and were voted for by their peers from that year. Those who put themselves forward had to give a one minute presentation on why they thought they would be good ambassadors for the school in the local community – William did his as a rap!
The Ambassadors received a trophy, sash and a cash prize and will be guests of honour in the Festival Parade on Saturday 15th June. They will also be invited to present the prizes in the Festival Prize Draw on Sunday 16th June.
Jackie Pilcher, the Festival Chairman, spoke to the children about the events at this year’s festival, suggested they take the opportunity of next week’s half term to make a scarecrow for the scarecrow competition and thanked them all for taking part in the election of the Ambassadors.
General quote from Jackie: ‘It’s so heartening for the festival committee to see the enthusiasm of the children for their ambassadors and know that they and the school want to be involved in festival celebrations.’
